Hi

I'm Louise Tervit . I'm a Physiotherapist at Hope School and the teacher facilitator for GTP.

First I want to apologize for our very late submission, but we have been having some frustrating connectivity issues. Hopefully we will be on track now. I'm very excited to be facilitating this challenge based , Children's Rights learning circle. let me introduce this tiny group to you. We have a tradition at Hope School of the Learners naming their groups. the boys decided on naming their group the New Inspiration Group. I'll let them tell you what they are all about.

We are the New inspiration Group from Hope School, South Africa.

We are Khutso Paile, Anele Thane and Prince Nyangasya.

 

Hi I'm Khutso Paile. I'm a grade 11 learner at Hope School. I'm very excited to be part of this group this year. I have been part of GTP since 2015 and last year was a lot of fun.

I'm a hard worker in school and doesn't give up on anything easily. I love reading inspirational books. 

 

Hello, my name is Prince Nyangasya. I'm in grade 9 and I'm 15 years old. I decided to join GTP this year as it sounds like fun.

 

I' Anele Thane. I'm in grade9. This is the first time that I've joined GTP.. i'm so Happy to be a part of GTP.

 

 

Let us tell you a little about our school  and our country. Hope School is located in a beautiful suburb called Westcliff in Johannesburg in Gauteng Province in South Africa. South Africa is a very beautifull country and called the Rainbow Nation because of the many cultures making the country. Hope School is a boarding school , so as we are all in the hostel we stay here 5 days a week. we are jubilant to be part of the school.

 

Hope School is a brilliant school, While being part of GTP, we have become more organised, and we like to learn more about other countries, what they think about the GTP experience.

Your song showed us that you seem to have a really good understanding of the issues that are being faced in the different parts of the world. We like how you identified a way that we could help each of them.

For some of the verses, we felt like we needed a little more information to help us fully understand what the struggle was, and it showed us that we needed to do a little bit of research to find out.

Dear Urmilla

 

Our names are Prince, Anele and Khutso and we want to have a say on how we feel about your video.

 

We think the video you made about your company to help others to escape the slavery of kamalary is emotional, motivational and inspirational. We admire the fact that you are not ashamed of the situation and that you embraced it and you keep reviving souls.

 

We are interested in this story because we do not have any form of house slaves in  South Africa. We want to know if males are used as house slaves in the same way? Are they used as slaves in any other way in Nepal. We are not sure we understand the difference between bonded child labour and slavery. We are oustanded to learn how nearly all the children's rights are affected by the practice of kamalary.

 

We congratulate your organization and we really think you are brave to launch this organization. We pray that the same miracles will continue.

We agree with your reaction to kamalari system and courage of Urmila to stand against it. We are very lucky here in Canada where children are allowed to play, go to school which is free for all. We cannot imagine that in this day and age some children are treated as objects or even slaves. 

We hope that our project will help many more children get their freedom and childhood back.
